Holman Christian Standard Bible [HCSB] Now Available Offline for iPhone/iPad and Android

One of the most popular English versions of the Bible is available for offline download right now! We’re excited to announce that you can add the Holman Christian Standard Bible to your offline translations in the Bible App until January 31, 2011. That means that you can have access to the HCSB even if your phone isn’t connected to the Internet or your data provider.

A huge thanks goes out to the generous folks at Broadman & Holman for making this possible. We appreciate their partnership and generosity in providing offline access to Scripture through the addition of the HCSB, allowing even more people to spend time in God’s Word no matter where they are. You can learn more about HCSB at HCSB.org and see the new HCSB Study Bible at MyStudyBible.com.

Don’t wait, download it now and you’ll have the HCSB in the palm of your hands, even when you’re outside of your network coverage or in airplane mode. Need a refresher on downloading an offline version? It’s easy.

How to Download the HCSB

For iPhone or iPod Touch, go to More, then Settings, then Offline Translations. You’ll see a long list with HCSB among the English versions. Select the HCSB and tap Download.

For iPad, tap the Settings icon in the top bar, then tap Offline Translations. You’ll see a long list with HCSB among the English versions. Select the HCSB and tap Download.

For Android, tap the top bar when in the Bible reader, then tap the top right box with the version shortcode. This will show you a list of all Bible versions. Scroll down to the HCSB and tap the download icon on the right edge.

  1. I can not see the offline download thingy on the right hand side of the HCSB tag on my Android> Is there another way to download the offline app?

  2. This is great! Thanks YouVersion and Holman. The thing that I really wish I could access offline is the reading plans. Any plans for that?

  3. When will we get a Catholic version like the New American Bible? Please see USCCB.org for reference.

  4. I have tried all week to download the HCSB & ESV for Android on my Motorola Backflip. I continue to get a message saying it failed to download and try later. Even tried other translations with same outcome. Are others having the same problems with android?

  5. I cannot find where to download this for my Iphone.
Can you help with a link?

  6. I’d love to download the free HCSB app, for my new IPod Touch. However, for “How to Download the HCSB”, your instructions are:

“For iPhone or iPod Touch, go to More, then Settings, then Offline Translations. You’ll see a long list with HCSB among the English versions. Select the HCSB and tap Download.”

I guess I’m too new to IPod Touch and your site, so pardon my dumb question: WHERE do I find \More\Settings\Offline Translations?
