Bible Plans, Reading Plans, Devotionals — whatever you call them, you probably already know that Plans are a proven way that you can get the Bible into the flow of your everyday life, by giving you just a little to read (or listen to) each day.
And the Bible is better with Friends:
When we spend time with friends, we often end up chatting about trivial things (movies or TV shows, sporting events, or recent purchases, as just a few examples). But, when we share our spiritual lives with trusted friends, those more meaningful conversations typically draw us closer to one another. Also, getting someone else’s perspective often helps us see things in God’s Word that we might not have noticed on our own.
Plans with Friends brings together the best of both.
Address a challenging issue in your life by inviting one or two close Friends to join you in a Plan. You’ll see one another’s progress as you complete days, and you can talk over each day’s reading in a private discussion area.
Kick off a group Bible study by inviting a few of your friends — or several — to start a Plan with you. As you complete each day on a shared schedule, you’ll likely see things in God’s Word that you’ve never noticed before, learning from one another’s perspectives in a group-text style of conversation.
Oh, how I love your teachings! I talk about them all the time.
The Bible is God’s Word to us, the spiritual food that we need to live each day with love, wisdom, and purpose. That’s why today we’re thrilled to announce Streaks. We designed Streaks specifically to help you build your habit of connecting with God through His Word.
The strongest habit starts small.
Whether you’re refreshing your existing Bible habit, or building a brand new one from scratch, consistency is key. Streaks show you how many days in a row you’ve opened the Bible App, right at the top of your Home feed.1
Streaks help you take it one day at a time.
Streaks encourage you with push notifications: short, gentle reminders to connect that help you build momentum over time. And along the way, each time you reach a new milestone — such as engaging with God’s Word for 7 days in a row or beating your previous record — Streaks reward your accomplishments with special, mini-celebrations.
Twenty times every second, people from all over the world click “Play” on another audio chapter of the Bible inside the Bible App. Just imagine: listening to God’s Word while you exercise, while you get ready for work, during your commute…or whenever you want.1 You might even enjoy listening as you read along. It’s easy:
Tap the speaker icon.
Inside the Bible App, when you see a speaker icon in the menu above the Bible text, tap it, then tap Play. If you don’t see a speaker icon above the Bible version you’re reading…
Tap the version abbreviation at the top of the app. Select any version with a speaker icon next to it. When you return to the Bible reader, tap the speaker icon.
1 Listening while connected to Wi-Fi does not use your mobile data plan. All Bibles that feature audio have a speaker icon next to them. To see all available versions, just tap your current Bible version.
Even one verse at a time.
Several of the audio Bibles we feature can read to you one verse at a time (many play only one chapter at a time). Try listening to the daily passages from one of your subscribed Plans with one of these audio Bible versions:
Select Bible App platforms even offer advanced audio playback features:
On your Apple device:
Select the playback speed you want.
Skip backward or forward 30 seconds.
Set the playback Timer, and make God’s Word the soundtrack to whatever you’re doing.
On your Android device:
When you select a Bible version that features audio, a play/pause button appears at the bottom, “floating” above the Bible text, to let you begin listening with just one tap. (Choose whether to show or hide this floating button with the “Show Controls” switch.)
Wherever you go, take God’s Word with you. Hopefully, you already have the Bible App on all your Android, Apple, and Amazon devices. Even on your laptop and other computers, think of Bible.com as the Bible App for them.
For all your new devices — including the ones still on their way for the holidays — chances are good we have a Bible App for them, too. You can find the Bible App in all kinds of places, such as on Amazon devices, Apple TV, and Apple Watch, to name just a few. Check bible.com/app or search for “Bible” in your device’s app store to see what we have for you.
In iOS 10, Apple introduced iMessage apps, a fun, super-easy way to include all kinds of content in your text exchanges — without ever leaving the Messages app. Today we’re thrilled to announce the Bible iMessage app, designed to help you breathe life and Godly wisdom into your everyday conversations.1
Send a professionally-designed Verse Image to inspire a friend. Or tap through our pre-selected emotion keywords to help you find a Bible verse that fits what you’re discussing. Or if you already have a specific verse in mind, just tap the reference search and look it up directly.2
2For now, the Bible iMessage app is only available in English. If you’d like to be among the first to know when we introduce new features, click one of the icons at the end of this email to follow us on social media.
There is one more thing…
We’re sure you’ll love the all-new Bible Keyboard, no matter what app you’re using — even if your iPhone or iPad doesn’t support iOS 10. Like the Bible iMessage app, Bible Keyboard also lets you quickly find a verse based on emotion or by search… but then you can insert them into any text field in your favorite chat, note-taking, and social media apps.1
Say you’re texting with a friend, and you realize they could really use a kind word. Or you’re organizing your notes to study for a big test, and you want to include a reminder to yourself not to be anxious. Or a friend posts on social media that they got the job they wanted, and you want to celebrate with them.
If you’ve ever used an emoji keyboard, then you already know how to use Bible Keyboard.2 But, even if you haven’t, it’s so simple (and fun!) that we’re sure you’ll love it.
1 Bible Keyboard is available on Apple devices running iOS 8 or higher. Before you can start using Bible Keyboard, first you’ll need to enable it. After you’ve updated your Bible App, tap “More” (the … at the far-right side of the bottom menu), then Bible App Settings, then “Enable Keyboard,” and follow the prompts.
2 For now, Bible Keyboard is only available in English. If you’d like to be among the first to know when we introduce new features, click one of the icons below to follow us on social media.
