YouVersion iPhone update 1.9 Available Now

The latest YouVersion update hit iTunes this afternoon, which was a sweet Friday surprise and a great way to kick off the weekend! Here’s what it means for you:

  • Now you can tweet verses you’re reading directly from the Bible app with a shortened URL
  • We’ll have some YouVersion Live goodness ready to share with you when we launch on Tuesday. (Don’t forget to check out the webinar if you haven’t seen it yet!)

To get these latest features, you’ll need to update to the latest version of YouVersion for the iPhone, which is Version 1.9. Unfortunately this means that afterwards you’ll need to re-download any offline versions you previously downloaded, but that shouldn’t be necessary when upgrading in the future because this update fixes several issues related to offline translations.

If you’ve never downloaded an offline translation, it’s pretty easy:

  • Open the Bible app on your iPhone or iPod Touch (with a wifi connection) and go to the “More” tab.
  • Tap “Settings,” then “Offline Translations,” then scroll to find the list of available offline translations.
  • Once you’ve selected the translation, tap “Download.” The translation should begin downloading immediately. (You’ll see a bar showing you the progress of the download in real-time.)

Now that you have it downloaded to your device, you’ll be able to read the Bible anytime as long as you have your downloaded translation selected. It’s perfect for reading the Bible in remote areas with no connection or on airplanes while traveling.

New Android Update for YouVersion

YouVersion Bible users on Android will be pleased to know a new update has gone live in the Android marketplace. This updates is all bug fixes and should continue to help you have a great experience engaging the Bible on your Android device.

Simply head to on your Android device and you will be directed to the Android Marketplace and the update.

YouVersion iPhone Bible Update Sumitted!

Yes it is true! Last week we did submit an update to Apple Store for the YouVersion Bible app for iPhone. We are excited for Apple to release this update as it has many bug fixes and some new integration that will allow you to share scripture through Twitter.

We are also in heavy development on another update for the YouVersion iPhone Bible app that will add integration. You can be looking for that to be coming down the pipe sometime in October.
