YouVersion iPhone Bible App 1.1 Update

As many of you know we recently launched YouVersion on the iPhone. Today, we would like to draw your attention to the 1.1 update that Apple released through the iTunes Application Store.

Bible App 1.1 Update Notes

Added 4 translations including: Holman Christian Standard Bible HCSB (English), Elberfelder Bibel (German), Louis Segond (French), and Chinese Union Version Simplified. Added new features including the translation strip (allows translations to be easily changed) and made the tab bar customizable. Several bug fixes including occasional connectivity problems with EDGE, 3G, and Wifi networks.

We are aggressively adding features and developing the iPhone Bible Application. Just a few things you can look forward to in the near future is: Offline availability, share verses with a friend, language localization, and much more

YouVersion adds German, French and Chinese Translations

We are excited to tell you that we added 3 new Bible translations… Elberfelder Bibel (German), Louis Segond (French), and Chinese Union Version Simplified. With these additions, YouVersion now serves 5 different languages.

Additionally, today we added member search. Now you can simply search the entire YouVersion system to find your friends, family or co-workers. It is as easy a logging in, clicking Profile and using the member search tool.

You spoke, and we listened! Now, our search is better, faster, more advanced…..and easier to use! Many of you kept asking for an easy way to copy and paste scripture from YouVersion to your blog, a document, etc. Now you can!

Now you can easily copy and paste scripture from YouVersion as well share scripture from your search via email. We are excited about these updates, and excited about all the great feedback that we continue to receive. Look for more updates coming soon to the YouVersion Bible App for iPhone as well as more updates coming to YouVersion.

YouVersion Now Available on iPhone

We’re excited to announce the debut of the Bible App for the iPhone, powered by YouVersion. This revolutionary online Bible now fits in the palm of your hand, allowing you to access the content that’s most meaningful to you no matter where you are. Users of the iPhone and iPod Touch can download it now for free from Apple’s built-in App Store.

The Bible App includes many of the features from YouVersion mobile, but enhances the user’s experience by taking advantage of the iPhone’s multi-touch interface.

YouVersion Mobile and Web Updates

On April 29, we released YouVersion Mobile. Since that release we have been blown away by the response and the feedback that you have provided! Wow! Thank you all for the encouragement and the great feedback. Our team really appreciates it.

Today, we wanted to let you know we have been busy working on a lot of enhancements with both YouVersion Mobile and YouVersion.com. Here are few of the changes we pushed last night:

YouVersion Mobile:

  • Added KJV and CEV translations
  • Changed and enhanced many pages
  • Improved speed and search results
  • Added ability to change translation on home page
  • Fixed many minor bugs

YouVersion.com:

  • Enhanced and improved speed of search results
  • Fixed many minor bugs

YouVersion.com Release 8.5

YouVersion Beta R8.5 is live…so check it out now. We are really pleased with the update, and some of the patches. Some of the new features and noticeable fixes include:

  • RSS for the One Year Bible (grab the RSS feed here)
  • Consolidated RSS feed of all of the contributions from who you are following.
  • Profile profile picture.
  • New footer includes current Bible version and the ability to change translations.
  • Almost forgot…fixed many submitted and unsubmitted ”bugs”.

YouVersion Release 7.1

Last week, we announced a YouVersion release that included the NIV and new RSS feed options to name a few features. Today, we’re adding even more features in Release 7.1.

We’ve added:

  • The TNIV translation
  • Social Network invite tool (Facebook, MySpace, etc.)
  • A search sidebar widget for websites and blogs

NIV Translation and Many New Features Added

Our digerati team has been cooped up in the dimly lit digerati den cranking out code and features for this new release of YouVersion.com. We are so excited to announce the new features in Beta R7.0.

NIV TRANSLATION – The NIV translation is now up and live on YouVersion.com! We know how many of you use the NIV and we are very grateful to the IBS for their help!

We have also added several new features!

Searching – Search results are now expanded to include Community Results as well as Scripture, so you can see who is talking about the topic you’re interested in!

RSS – You can now subscribe via RSS to recent contribution feeds. Be the first to know when someone has added content! Even more specifically, if you like what a particular user is contributing, you can also subscribe to his or her RSS contribution feed and be notified when that user publishes new content.

Invite a Friend – We’ve also made it easier for you to spread the YouVersion love! You can invite your friends to check out YouVersion by easily importing your address book.

Follow Someone - Following your friends is now all the rage in social networking. Did you know YouVersion has a similar feature? If you find someone you think is interesting on YouVersion, simply follow them. You’ll be able to easily access their public contributions, see their tags and starred verses.
