In iOS 10, Apple introduced iMessage apps, a fun, super-easy way to include all kinds of content in your text exchanges — without ever leaving the Messages app. Today we’re thrilled to announce the Bible iMessage app, designed to help you breathe life and Godly wisdom into your everyday conversations.1

Send a professionally-designed Verse Image to inspire a friend. Or tap through our pre-selected emotion keywords to help you find a Bible verse that fits what you’re discussing. Or if you already have a specific verse in mind, just tap the reference search and look it up directly.2

There is one more thing…

We’re sure you’ll love the all-new Bible Keyboard, no matter what app you’re using — even if your iPhone or iPad doesn’t support iOS 10. Like the Bible iMessage app, Bible Keyboard also lets you quickly find a verse based on emotion or by search… but then you can insert them into any text field in your favorite chat, note-taking, and social media apps.1

Say you’re texting with a friend, and you realize they could really use a kind word. Or you’re organizing your notes to study for a big test, and you want to include a reminder to yourself not to be anxious. Announcing the Next Bible App for Kids Game…

Together with our partner OneHope, last month we released a huge Bible App for Kids update that made it feel brand-new. We introduced a new interactive map, new story icons, and all-new story activities,1 including the Story Mixup game. Today we’re announcing our next new game:

Story Memory Match.

Story Memory Match is a classic matching game, where you tap one tile at a time to flip it over, looking for matches. For Two by Two, the story of Noah and the ark, adds a twist — kids have match male animals with their female mates.1 Your kids will want to play Story Memory Match again and again as they advance through all three of its difficulty levels. (Each level adds more tiles.)

As soon as you’ve updated your Bible App for Kids, look for the new Story Memory Match badge on story icons.2

1Story Memory Match is available for Two by Two, Waters Part and Walls Fall, Through the Roof, Coming Home, and A Forever Promise. We’ll be introducing more new games and activities for other stories in the coming months.
2After you’ve updated your app, the first time you tap on a story that features an activity you haven’t used before (such as Story Memory Match), the app will prompt you to redownload that story to get the new content.

Today, together with our partner OneHope, we’re pleased to announce the launch of the Bible App for Kids in Vietnamese. Now, more children than ever have the opportunity to enjoy a Bible experience all their own.

Switching between languages is easy, right in the app’s Settings. Just make sure you’ve updated your app to the most current release, then look under Settings for “Language.” Choose between Afrikaans, Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese (Mandarin audio with either Simplified or Traditional characters), Dutch, English (UK or US), Farsi, Filipino (Tagalog), French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Urdu, and Vietnamese. The audio will play in that language, and any text will appear in that language, too!

Bible App for Android: Use Less Data

We want to help you connect with God’s Word every day, even when you’re in places where network access is limited or where data is expensive. If you keep your Bible App up-to-date, then we hope you’ve already been enjoying the many new features we’ve introduced recently — along with our updates to existing ones — all designed to give you the best offline Bible App experience possible. Today we’re very excited to announce an all-new, super-practical feature we think you’re going to love:

Now you can control how much data the Bible App uses on your Android device.

Before the Bible App can show you images — in your Home feed, for example, or browsing through Bible Plans, or searching for Events — it has to download them first. When you have a strong Internet connection, that’s great. But if you have low signal on either Wi-Fi or cellular, those same images may not load quickly. This update helps you use less data by specifying which conditions the Bible App should consider before it loads images. When you want it to conserve data, the Bible App will display text instead, wrapping it in placeholders in attractive colors.

After you’ve run the update, look for “Downloading Images” in your Settings:

Auto Detect Download images at the optimum resolution available, based on the current network signal strength.
Wi-Fi Only Only download images when your device is connected to a wireless network.
Always Always download the highest-resolution images available.
Never Never download images, regardless of network connection.
