What are the Beatitudes?

“Blessed are those who…”

Matthew 5:4

In Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, He declares many different blessings, also known as beatitudes, and reframes what the Kingdom of Heaven will look like.

But what do those blessings mean for us?

This week, experience the Beatitudes in a whole new way with Daily Refresh.

In Verse of the Day, you will unpack a new blessing each day. Then you’ll be able to reflect on what these blessings mean for you in Guided Prayer thanks to exclusive content from our Partner, Propel Women.

Complete all eight Beatitude-themed days of Daily Refresh and deepen your relationship with God and His Word.

So you want to pray … now what?

“I want to pray, but I don’t have time.”

With our busy lives and schedules, it can be hard to make time to pray or even know where to start.

When you feel overwhelmed, remember this: prayer is simply an honest conversation between you and God.

Here are 3 ways you can connect with God through prayer.

1. Guided Prayer

Do you want to talk to God but don’t know what to say?

Guided Prayer provides daily prompts that help you reflect on Scripture, draw closer to God, and talk to Him about what’s on your mind.

2. Prayer Lists

Sometimes when we pray, we get distracted.

With the Prayer List feature, you can focus on talking to God by writing your prayers down.

As you draw closer to God through prayer, you can also draw closer to your community by sharing your prayer requests with Friends.

The Prayer List helps you see how God has answered your prayers and remember His faithfulness.

3. Prayer Reminders

Sometimes we need to be reminded that we can talk to God at any time.

Prayer Reminders are perfect for when you need extra encouragement to do that.

Go to your Prayer tab, and tap, “Prayer Reminder.” From here, you can set up a time each day to receive a reminder.

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

“Why is this happening?”

No matter what you’re facing, know this: God has a purpose for your life, even when you don’t see it.

In Ecclesiastes 3, the author tells us there is a season for everything—dancing, grieving, and laughing.

This passage describes the beauty of life but also the hardships that come with it. It shows us that even during difficult times, we can trust that God is working.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time … yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

Ecclesiastes 3:11

God works outside of our ideal timeline to create something greater than we could ever imagine.

Scripture tells us that our experiences—good or bad—are in God’s hands, and His timing is perfect.

It may not feel that way right now, but God is moving in your life whether you can see it yet or not.

Today, reflect on Ecclesiastes 3, and ask God to help you trust Him and His timing.
