A Prayer for Joy

Joy to the world…

Globe

…the Lord has come!

It wasn’t the royal arrival anyone anticipated. And yet, Jesus’ appearance changed everything. In an instant, the Son of God became “God with us”—and over 2,000 years later, our weary world is still rejoicing.

Today, as you prepare for Christmas, spend some time celebrating that Jesus’ humble birth prepared a way for us to draw near to Him.

A Prayer for Joy

Jesus, thank You for becoming Immanuel, “God with us.” It’s because of You that I can experience true joy.

I admit that it can sometimes feel hard to be joyful in the middle of a busy or difficult holiday season. But when the cares of my heart are many, Your comfort gives me renewed hope and cheer.

So today, I choose to take refuge in You and rejoice. I will sing for joy because You are my strength and my salvation. In Your presence there is fullness of joy! And because of Your humble arrival over 2,000 years ago, I am now able to experience the joy of Your presence forever. Thank You.

You are always worthy of all glory, honor, and power—and so no matter what I face, I will choose to worship You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God is always doing great things. Let’s thank Him!

Mountain range

What are you thankful for?

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

1 THESSALONIANS 5:18

No matter what you face, God’s goodness and mercy will never leave you. In fact, He even prepares blessings for you in the middle of hard seasons. But these truths aren’t always easy to remember, which is why giving thanks matters.

Gratitude helps us focus on the only One who is able to turn our problems around for His glory and our good. So right now, let’s take a minute to pause and thank God for all He’s done in our lives.

A Prayer of Thanks

God, You are good, and Your steadfast love endures forever! Even in the hardest seasons, I always have a reason to worship You.

Thank You for giving me victory and abundant life in Jesus Christ! Although I don’t deserve it, You shower me with unconditional love and forgiveness.

And so no matter what the future may hold, I will shout for joy because You are with me. You comfort me and bless me in the presence of my enemies. Nothing compares to You and no weapon can stand against You. In all things, I am more than a conqueror through You!

Be glorified through me, God. Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart bless Your name.

I want my life to bring You praise.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today, let’s come together to pray for each other

Trees in front of mountains

“Take heart, I have overcome the world.”

Immediately after Jesus spoke those words, He prayed for the future Church to “be united,” just as He and the Father were, that way the world would know Him.

What is unity?

Unity means to be joined in purpose and passion, and involves exchanging our will for Christ’s will. Even though unity is difficult, Jesus seemed to believe it was necessary if the world was going to know Him.

When we cultivate unity in the body of Christ, we acknowledge that Jesus is in control and that His grace is sufficient to cover our differences.

Today, let’s seek God’s heart and ask Him to draw His Church together as one, so that the world will believe in the One that God sent to unite us.

Jesus,

Thank You for overcoming the world. Because of that, we can experience unity with You. And because we can be unified with You, we can experience unity with each other.

It’s by You all things are held together. As we seek to center our lives around You, help us to see all the ways You are at work in the world.

Draw us closer to Your heart so that we begin to see each other the way You see us. Would that encourage us to look out not only for our own interests, but also for the interests of others.

We want Your kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven, so unite us in purpose so that nothing keeps people searching for You from believing in You. May we experience such perfect unity that the world will know that You sent us and that You love them unconditionally.

Come, Lord Jesus, and do in our lives what only You can do.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

What is Worship by Time of Grace

DEVOTIONAL

Worship is Praying

God realizes that he has you at a bit of a disadvantage. He can see you, but you can’t see him. He can hear you plainly and directly, but you can hear him only indirectly. He’s aware of the stress that places on you, and he makes allowances for it.

You honor him when you pray. Christian prayers acknowledge God as omnipresent, caring, omniscient, and all-powerful. Prayer accepts…

PRAYER

God, I know that You are able to handle my every need, so please give me the courage to bring all my struggles before You. Stir in my heart a desire to seek You first above all else, because You are the One who cares for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Join us in praying for peace

Coastline

When you think of peace, what comes to mind?

Peace may mean many things, but if the definition isn’t rooted in God’s Word, then the peace we long for is only a shadow of the peace God longs to give us.

Right now, let’s ask for God’s peace to fill our lives and our world by praying these two prayers.

Experience God’s Peace

Oh God, my life is filled with trials and hardships. Sometimes, I feel overwhelmed and grieved. Nevertheless, I’m grateful that in every situation You are with me. In You, I can have peace. No matter what I face, today I choose to not let my heart be troubled or afraid. My mind is fixed on You and I trust in You. Fill me with joy and peace so that by the power of Your Holy Spirit, I may abound with hope. Guard my heart and give me the strength to live a life marked by Your peace. Amen.
