Enjoy Your Bible Plans…
Anytime, Anywhere.

You probably already know that Bible Plans are one of the best ways you can engage with the Bible every day, giving you just a few passages for each day’s reading. You probably also know that many of your favorite Bible versions are available for you to download to your device. But did you know that many Bible Plans are also available offline?

That means that even during those times when you’re away from Wi-Fi or you can’t connect to your service provider — on the subway, on an airplane, or just when you’re “getting away from it all” — you can still keep up with your current Bible Plan.

Here’s all you need to do:

Sometime when you are connected, download one of your favorite Bible versions (here’s how). Then subscribe to one — or more — Bible plans (here’s how). Downloaded Bible versions are stored on your device, as well as the data for any Bible Plans you’ve subscribed to.* The Bible App keeps track of which days you complete offline, then syncs them with your online account the next time you’re connected again — all in the background.

Try a Plan Offline

*Before you can use Offline Bible Plans, make sure you have the most current version of the Bible App installed. Some older versions of Android and iOS may not be supported. Downloaded Bible versions contain only the text. Each downloaded Bible uses less than 0.2 GB of storage on your device. Not all Bible versions are available for download. Downloaded Bible Plans contain only the devotional portion. Most other functions (e.g., search, videos, image files, audio files, etc.) still require an Internet connection.

Note to Self: “Save this Bible Plan and start it later”

Our All-New “Can’t Miss” Feature for Bible Plans

You probably already know that Bible Plans are one of the best ways that you can engage with God’s Word every day. But what happens when you’re subscribed to a Plan — or, let’s be honest, to a few — and you see another Plan that you think you might like? Now, for the first time ever, you can save it for later! Here’s how:

SaveForLater1

Tap on the Plan you’re interested in, then tap “Save for later.”

That’s it! The Bible App marks that Plan as saved and adds it to a new list called Saved For Later on your My Plans page:

SaveForLater2

You’ll see listed every Plan you’ve saved, each with a “Start” link right next to it. (When you start a Plan, it moves from your Saved For Later list to your main My Plans list.)

Before you can start saving Plans, you’ll need to make sure you have the latest Bible App update for your device. So go ahead and find your next favorite Plan; even if you’re not ready to start it right now, you can always save it for later.

Bible App for Android Has Two Brand-New Widgets

Bible App Widgets can help you keep God’s Word front-and-center in your day, giving you a quick, “at-a-glance” peek into your favorite features — right on your device’s Home screen! The latest update to the Bible App for Android includes two all-new Widgets: one for Verse of the Day and one for Reading Plans.

Verse of the Day Widget

VOTD-2

The Verse of the Day Widget displays as much of today’s Verse of the Day as will fit in the size you selected. One tap on any of the three available sizes can take you to the Verse of the Day inside the Bible App. In the two larger sizes, you can adjust the Widget’s settings, share today’s Verse of the Day with your friends, and even make a Verse Image — all starting directly from your Home screen! When you add the Verse of the Day Widget,* select a black or white color theme, turn transparency on or off, and specify the Bible version you’d like displayed in your Widget.

Reading Plans Widget

Each of the three available sizes of the Reading Plans Widget displays the Plan artwork of any of your currently subscribed Plans, along with quick links to today’s Devotional Content and Bible passages — again, all from your Home screen. When you add the Reading Plans Widget,* you’ll specify a black or white color theme, turn transparency on or off, and select which Plan(s) you want to display.

*Note: The way you add Widgets to your device varies by manufacturer. Try entering “Widgets” into your device’s Search tools, or look online for tips on how to add Widgets to your specific device.

Tip: We want your Bible App experience to be as amazing as possible. So before you update or install this latest version, please check your device Settings to ensure that it’s up-to-date with the most recent release of Android available. Some Bible App features may not be available on older devices, or on older versions of Android.

5 Easy Ways to Get More Bible in Your Day

5-WAYS

We could all use more inspiration, more direction, and more meaning in our lives. For most Christians, we know there’s no better daily source of insight than the Bible. (It is God’s inspired Word, after all.) Of course, just deciding that you want to read the Bible more is the easy part. Actually making that commitment stick is where it starts getting tricky.

That’s where we come in: Each day for the next five days, we’ll reveal one more easy thing you can start doing right now — today — to get you started. Ready? Let’s do this!

Turn our Verse of the Day into your Chapter of the Day.

One super-easy way to connect with Scripture every day is to read the Bible App’s Verse of the Day. But when a verse encourages you, what was its context? What happened before? And where do those ideas lead from here? Getting the rest of the story is actually pretty straightforward. Just tap the Verse of the Day, then tap [Read full chapter]. More Scripture = More Inspiration!

Don’t see Verse of the Day in your Home feed?
Tap Menu > Verse of the Day

When the Word inspires you, create art that inspires others.

Often when you read Scripture, the Holy Spirit speaks. Are you listening? As you’re reading that chapter in the Bible App each day, pay attention to what it’s making you feel. Did a particular phrase speak to you? Was it joy? Conviction? Peace? Power? When those moments happen — and they will — make a Verse Image that expresses your inspiration. Just tap the verse, tap the Verse Image icon, and follow the prompts. And once you’ve put the finishing touches on that work of Bible art, share it with friends!

Make Plans with Friends.

So much of what we end up talking about with friends feels shallow. But when you invite a friend (or a few) to share your spiritual journey, you’ll find yourselves discussing things that actually matter. What does this passage mean? Why does this particular thing seem so important to God? How can we put this into practice? Use the Bible App to find a Plan you’d like to read together, then commit to talk about each day’s reading. Here are some great ones to get you started:

Play God’s Word as the soundtrack for your day.

It can be so easy to just press snooze…for the third time. Probably because you know that as soon as your feet touch the floor, you won’t get to stop moving again until bedtime. School, work, friends, family, food, sleep, repeat. So why not invite God along, whatever you’re doing? Listen to audio Bibles on the go. On the Read tab, just tap the speaker icon.

Don’t see a speaker icon?
Tap your current Bible version, then select a different version
(one that has a speaker icon next to it).

Set “Hear from God” on your calendar… as a daily event.

When you really like a show, you manage to find time to watch. We make time for the things we value. Set a goal to connect with the Bible every day. (Five minutes a day is plenty to start.) If you’ll just stick with it, it will become a habit. Don’t worry if you’ve been inconsistent in the past or if you miss a day; that’s okay. Just start small, today. Give God some time to speak to your heart. Set up just one of these, right now:

Subscribe to the Verse of the Day.
OR
Set up a Bible Plan to email you every day.
OR
Set a calendar reminder to pop up every day at a time that works for you.
