1 Corinthians

Paul addresses a host of problems in the ancient church of Corinth. As he does so, he shows us what it means to see all of life’s complexities through the lens of the Gospel about Jesus.

2 Corinthians

Paul repairs his relationship with the Corinthians, showing them how the scandalous message of the crucified Jesus opens up a totally new way of life.

Paul confronts the Galatians Christians for thinking they could supplement God’s grace by observing certain commands in the Torah. He reminds them that salvation is a total gift of God’s love, and needs no completion through religious rituals.

Paul offers a panoramic summary of his entire message and mission as an apostle of Jesus to the non-Jewish world. He also shows how the Gospel creates a diverse community that is unified by devotion to Jesus and to each other.

Paul thanks the Christians in Philippi for their support, and he shows how Jesus’ self-giving love is the model for the Christian way of life.

Paul shows the Colossian Christians how Jesus is key to understanding all of reality. His death and resurrection as king of the world demand that every aspect of our lives be transformed by his love and grace.
