Now Your Children Can Experience the Bible App for Kids in French!

More than 220 million people around the world speak French. And according to a recent survey, 1.6 million families in the U.S. said that French is the primary language they speak at home. Ever since we added French to the Bible App almost five years ago, millions of you have been actively participating in the worldwide YouVersion community. Today, together with our partner OneHope, we’re pleased to announce the launch of the Bible App for Kids in French: La Bible App pour les Enfants. Now, more children than ever have the opportunity to enjoy a Bible experience all their own.

And with our all-new language selector, now you can select French as your language of choice — from directly inside the Bible App for Kids! Simply update your app to the most current release, then look under Settings for “Language.” You can choose between Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Korean, Russian, and Spanish. The audio will play in that language, and any text will appear in that language, too!

Please help us celebrate this great news!

In New Bible App for Kids Story, “A Goodbye Meal,” Jesus Shares the Last Supper with His Disciples

Available now in the Bible App for Kids, “A Goodbye Meal” is the story of Jesus sharing the last supper with His disciples. Based on passages from Matthew 26:14–16, John 13:26–30, and Mark 14:12–26, “A Goodbye Meal” explains why the religious leaders didn’t like Jesus, then shows the events that gave us the Communion we still celebrate today: to remember all that Jesus sacrificed for us.

Jesus tries to show everyone how much God loves them by healing sick people and giving food to people who are hungry. But some leaders don’t like the things that Jesus is saying (and they’re jealous of Him), so they want to make Him go away. They pay one of Jesus’ followers, a man named Judas, to tell lies about Jesus so that the police will arrest Him.

But because Jesus is God, He already knows their mean plans. He even knows that Judas is secretly planning to help the bad leaders get Him in trouble! Jesus sits down to have a nice dinner with His main twelve followers, called disciples. As they are eating together, Jesus tells Judas in front of everybody that He knows what Judas is planning to do. Jesus tells Judas to go ahead and get it over with quickly, so Judas leaves to go get the bad men who will take Jesus away.

After Judas leaves, Jesus gives pieces of bread to His friends who stayed, and He shares a drink with them. He tells them, “When you eat bread—and drink together, too—remember all the things I did for you.” Jesus tells them that all the bad things that are about to happen need to happen, because that’s how God has decided He wants to forgive all of the bad things that people do. After Jesus and His friends finish eating, they sing a song together, then go to a special garden to pray…and wait.

Switch Languages from Inside the Bible App for Kids!

BAFK-Language1

In a brand-new feature, now you can select any of the Bible App for Kids’ many languages…from directly inside the app! If this is your first time installing the Bible App for Kids, you’ll have this feature the first time you open the app. Or, if you already have the Bible App for Kids, simply update it to the most current version, then look under Settings for “Language.” The app lists all of our available languages, both in that language and in your currently selected default language. Just tap the one you want:

BAFK-Language2

When you open a story in a different language, the app will need to download that story again. Each time you open a story, if you’ve downloaded that story before, Bible App for Kids will simply replace the one on your device with that same story in your newly selected language. But don’t worry: it’s easy! And, more importantly, your kids won’t lose any stars they’ve achieved or any collectibles they’ve gathered. (Bible App for Kids remembers those things across languages.)

We know your children are going to love experiencing their favorite Bible stories in the language of their heart!
