The Bible App for Kids Adds “A Hairy Tale,” the Story of Samson

“A Hairy Tale” is the newest story in the Bible App for Kids, and it’s available now! This tale of Samson comes from Judges 13–16 in the Old Testament. God gifts Samson with supernatural strength so he can lead his people to stand up to Philistine bullies. And as Samson’s hair grows longer, his muscles grow stronger.

Unfortunately, because Samson keeps using his strength to be selfish, he loses God’s favor, his hair, his muscles… even his eyes! But when Samson finally turns his heart back to God and admits his mistakes, God returns Samson’s strength to him — just in time to fulfill the purpose God had for him all along.

The Bible App for Kids Celebrates Its First Anniversary

The Bible App for Kids is 1 YEAR OLD!

The Bible App for Kids launched one year ago on Thanksgiving 2013. Throughout the past year, children all over the world have been discovering God’s Word through a unique Bible experience all their own. Designed in partnership with OneHope, the Bible App for Kids has been installed on more than 4 million unique devices in 218 different countries. Kids have already spent more than 10 million minutes exploring more than 20 delight-filled stories.

It’s thrilling to see so many little ones growing in their love for God’s Word, and we’re looking forward to seeing how it shapes their generation. We’re also pretty excited about some recent and upcoming additions to the app.

More stories are coming. Next up will be “A Hairy Tale,” the Old Testament story of redemption about Samson, the man with long hair and miraculous strength.

More languages are coming, too. The Bible App for Kids launched a Spanish version this summer, then added Chinese and Korean just days ago, bringing new ways for kids to engage with God’s Word in the language of their hearts, no matter where they live. In the coming months, even more languages will be making their debut — like Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic.

“Waters Part and Walls Fall”: The Newest Story in the Bible App for Kids

The newest story in the Bible App for Kids shows God’s people entering the promised land. It’s based on Numbers 13-14, Joshua 2-3, and Joshua 5-6 in the Old Testament. Moses sends 12 spies to explore the land flowing with milk and honey. Two return ready to trust God’s promise, but the other ten convince the people it’s just too dangerous. Years later, Joshua leads the next generation into Canaan with the ark of the Lord, and the Jordan River stops flowing for them, allowing them to cross on dry land.

As the Israelites approach the walled city of Jericho, the Lord’s messenger gives Joshua their “battle” instructions. They march around the city for seven days, carrying the ark and blowing their trumpets. When they finish marching on the last day, God’s people shout, and Jericho’s walls fall down for them.
